Lam started learning Saxophone with Mr. Li Tsz Wing in the Hong Kong Music Office at the age of eight, he was graduated from the Hong Kong Institute of Education in 2001 and received the Bachelor of Education (Music) in 2005.

During his study period, Lam received many awards in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, and performed actively in many Wind Orchestra, including Hong Kong Children Symphonic Band, Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band, Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphonic Band, Hong Kong Institute of Education Symphonic Band. In 2001, Lam was invited by the Hong Kong Institute of Education Symphonic Band as a soloist to perform in Chiayi City International Band Festival in Taiwan.

Lam has started teaching music in Po Leung Kuk Riverain Primary School since 2001, he has appointed as the conductor of the School Senior Choir, the Wind Ensemble and the Percussion Ensemble. Within these years, these performing groups received many awards in music competitions, and performed in various area.

Lam is now the Music Director and Principal conductor of the Musicphilic Winds, the conductor of the PLK Riverain Primary School Wind Ensemble, Creative Primary School and QESOSA Tong Kwok Wah Secondary School Symphonic Band, the music director of the PLK Riverain Primary School Marching Band.
